Las peregrinaciones como procesos comunitarios. Etnografía de los peregrinos del barrio de San Miguel y San Ignacio de la alcaldía de Iztapalapa

Las peregrinaciones son grupos constituidos a través de la interacción social comunitaria mediante la participación religiosa, cuya finalidad es el traslado de los peregrinos hacia el santuario o lugar sagrado para solicitar amparo, protección, o expresar el agradecimiento a la imagen sagrada. Los desplazamientos no solo son motivados por la devoción y la fe de las personas, sino también por un sentido de pertenencia a una comunidad que se fortalece a través de la participación conjunta en la celebración del evento religioso.
Este artículo reflexiona sobre dicho fenómeno a partir del material etnográfico recabado, enfocándose en las relaciones sociales basadas en el principio de reciprocidad en las peregrinaciones del barrio de San Miguel y San Ignacio de la Alcaldía Iztapalapa y la imagen de Cristo Aparecido, ubicada en el santuario de Totolapan. Además, se presentan las formas de organización, los rituales y su vinculación con el espacio, es decir, con el trayecto recorrido por los peregrinos hacia el santuario, lo cual sustenta la unidad de la corporación y los referentes que contribuyen a la construcción de la comunalidad.
