Perspectiva social y globalizadora de la educación ambiental: transformación ética y nuevos retos

El artículo tiene como objetivo ofrecer las bases de un modelo social y educativo innovador para la transformación de la educación ambiental en una educación en valores medioambientales, con el fin de potenciar la concienciación y sensibilización de la ciudadanía frente a las graves problemáticas sociales y ecológicas. Se determina que hoy conviven múltiples tendencias educativas al respecto al no existir una ética ambiental única, lo que obliga, para hacer frente a estos retos, a adoptar una nueva perspectiva globalizadora. Como resultado se presenta un constructo holístico que conjuga los principales valores éticos presentes en corrientes de educación ambiental de naturaleza antropocéntrica, zoocéntrica, biocéntrica y ecocéntrica. Ello conlleva una transformación ética multidimensional que, paralelamente al desarrollo humano y social, potencia el respeto hacia los demás seres sintientes y la conservación del medio ambiente, del que formamos parte.
