Cognición extendida y símbolos de la velada mazateca con hongos psilocibios

El resurgimiento de la medicina psicodélica ha identificado los beneficios terapéuticos de la psilocibina, pero considerado pocos aspectos fuera de sus efectos neurobiológicos y sintomatologías psiquiátricas. La velada mazateca es una práctica tradicional de sanación mediante el uso de hongos psilocibios. En este trabajo, analizamos sus elementos simbólicos y los comprendemos bajo la cognición extendida y un resignificado efecto placebo. Mostramos que las creencias sobre la sacralidad de los hongos, el papel activo del paciente, la representación del chamán, y los espacios físicos y actos en la ceremonia, constituyen elementos simbólicos que inciden en los efectos farmacológicos de la psilocibina y en el bienestar del paciente. La velada brinda guías para incorporar elementos cognitivos extra-cerebrales en la resurgida medicina psicodélica.Downloads
