Las imágenes del cuerpo indígena en América Latina: archivos de enemización

El propósito del artículo es analizar las imágenes que representan a los indígenas en obras relevantes de carácter histórico en Argentina, Colombia, Chile y Perú. No se trata solamente de ilustraciones y del uso de técnicas de producción visual, sino de la producción de un archivo que forma parte de una cultura visual de la sociedad de la época. Para ello, se consideran tres esquemas interpretativos del indígena y tres elementos socioculturales: visualidad, imagen y mirada. Este trabajo se caracteriza por la amplitud y el carácter comparado del corpus analizado, siendo sus principales hallazgos el uso de estrategias de enemización como el control de las emociones, especialmente del comportamiento, los modales y la vestimenta; así como el uso de la vergüenza y la cosificación del cuerpo del otro, imponiendo un modo de conciencia del ser indígena.
