Contrabando de migrantes y demanda laboral

Este artículo, fundamentado en una metodología cualitativa que incluye entrevistas en profundidad a 132 contrabandistas de migrantes mexicanos, realizadas entre abril de 2008 y mayo de 2013, parte de la siguiente hipótesis: el contrabando de migrantes entre México y Estados Unidos es una actividad que ya no es sostenida por el capital social de la comunidad migrante, sino por la determinación de los empleadores estadounidenses para abastecerse de mano de obra barata y disciplinada; y concluye que la mayor parte de las redes de contrabando de migrantes trabajan ahora, principalmente, para los empleadores estadounidenses.
