De los quiebres democráticos a los gobiernos de coalición: una revisión del debate sobre el presidencialismo

El artículo presenta una revisión de los estudios sobre los sistemas presidenciales generados desde 1990 después de las críticas de Juan Linz. Clasificamos y ordenamos la literatura haciendo énfasis en las limitaciones del nuevo institucionalismo en tres categorías: i) trabajos centrados en las instituciones formales, ii) explicaciones espaciales iii) investigaciones basadas en instituciones informales. Mostramos un cambio en la variable dependiente en las explicaciones del comportamiento del sistema presidencial: del análisis de los quiebres democráticos a la inestabilidad de los gobiernos democráticos.
