El rap indígena: activismo artístico para la reivindicación del origen étnico en un contexto urbano

Desde finales del siglo xx emerge en México un movimiento artístico indígena que utiliza el género musical conocido como rap. En este artículo se busca comprender la manera en que los jóvenes indígenas emigrados a la ciudad transmiten y difunden sus valores e ideologías por medio de este género. Los resultados obtenidos de un análisis del contenido cualitativo del cancionero del grupo Nueva República refieren la forma en la que participan en un activismo político y social, con el cual buscan rescatar, reforzar e implantar las raíces de su identidad étnica, al tiempo que tratan de insertarse cabalmente en el mundo globalizado en el que se ven inmersos.
